Uncertain Smile

Poi Dog Pondering covered one of my favorite The The songs, called "Uncertain Smile"

What I love about the original is the amazing piano solo (played by Jools Holland) at the end of the track. I still love this song, and especially the piano solo.

Here's a crappy audio version of Uncertain Smile on the Jools Holland Show with Jools playing an inferior version of the solo on the studio version (where he goes off, literally, one of the best piano solos of all time)

Here's a live version with Johnny Marr on guitar. The keyboardist did a good job of approximating the solo on the original.

And finally, the original, with that magnificent, and never-ending, piano solo. (starting at 3:25)

There are at least 5 versions of this song I know of, this is my favorite.

I took the last few seconds of the track, reworked it, and made my own re-edit of this Balearic classic.

Fingerprint File

One of my favorite Rolling Stones songs (the last track on it's only Rock and Roll). One of their lesser known tracks and that bassline is one of my favorites of all time (I think it was performed by someone other than Bill Wyman... he played synth on this track... so I've heard).

Yesterday, I opened the windows and doors and put Tusk on the turntable. Such a great album. I was never really a fan of this song, but yesterday, I realized just how amazing it really is. I love the background "pad" vocals, so beautiful.
